Herman van Veen - Vandaag
For years, Herman van Veen has been moving audiences from the stage. In 'Vandaag', he looks back on what lies behind him and looks ahead with curiosity, in a way that only he can: disarming, sharp, and with a touch of humor.
Still going strong
Recently, Herman van Veen was approached at the market by a man who looked at him with genuine surprise: “Are you still alive?” The two struck up a conversation. It turned out the man had seen Van Veen perform in the theater back in the 1960s. Van Veen told him that he was, in fact, still around. And how! Thanks to what he calls “genetic luck” and, above all, thanks to singing. Because that’s exactly what keeps him going, with heart and soul. And he does as many as 140 performances a year. Sure, he’s a little stiff here and there. And he can’t jump like he used to. But he’s still here. And if it’s up to him, he’ll stay that way for a very long time.
