KETI KOTI
On 1 July, we celebrate Keti Koti (Kibra Kadena), the commemoration and celebration of the abolition of slavery. In collaboration with Blauwsel and Kultiva Inspira, an evening full of connection, freedom and cultural exchange is on the programme.
Look forward to an evening full of music, dancing, socialising and food
Under the theme ‘Heirlooms’, we will reflect on stories, traditions and memories passed down from generation to generation. Expect plenty of music, dance, socialising and conversations about freedom, identity and legacy. Special attention will be given to the rhythms of kaseko and tambú, two musical styles that play an important role in Afro-Surinamese and Caribbean culture. In addition, free heri heri will be handed out as part of the national initiative ‘Free Heri Heri For All’.
