Peulen People - Martin Peulen
The ‘Metropolitan Museum’ is kicking off this new cultural year with an exhibition by Martin Peulen, a creative jack-of-all-trades from Brabant. The title ‘Peulen People’ refers to his endless series of whimsical human figures that regularly populate his work in an energetic choreography.
About Peulen People
Peulen: ‘They spill out of the brush,’ he says, his little people, dancing across the paper in an unstoppable flow, a cascade of body shapes, a humanity in uncertain strokes. They end up on linen, on wood, on unsuspecting pages. And before you know it, on a glass façade, an unblemished ship’s hull or some slender thigh. There’s no escaping it now; his work bursts forth in rebellious colours. The window exhibition ‘Peulen People’, featuring recent work, will have its festive opening on Friday evening, 4 September at 8.00 pm. You are most welcome to attend at the ‘Metropolitan Museum’, Stedekestraat 15, Tilburg, open daily, day and night, with free admission. The exhibition runs until Sunday 25 October 2026.
About Martin Peulen
Martin Peulen (1955) studied classical singing and graduated from the St. Joost Academy of Art in Breda. These days, he paints in his studio in Waspik, but also frequently works on location. He is also known for his masterful books and his compelling performances, which are often interwoven with painting or singing.
