Savatage is one of the most influential metal bands of the 1980s. The American band from Florida made a name for itself with a unique blend of power metal, progressive metal, hard rock, and symphonic influences, and is still considered a source of inspiration within the genre.

The band through the years

Led by brothers Jon and Criss Oliva, the band released albums that are now considered classics of the genre. Albums such as *Hall of the Mountain King* (1987) and *Streets: A Rock Opera* (1991) are still regarded as major milestones in the world of metal. The combination of compelling narratives, theatrical compositions, and technical musicianship set Savatage apart even back then. After the tragic death of guitarist Criss Oliva in 1993, the band remained active. With the 1995 album *Dead Winter Dead*, Savatage embarked on a new path and laid the foundation for the successful Trans-Siberian Orchestra, which emerged from the band’s symphonic and narrative ambitions.

Tour through Europe

In 2015, after years of absence, Savatage made a spectacular comeback at Wacken Open Air, where the band performed for tens of thousands of fans. Now the group is returning to Europe once again for a series of shows. During the concert at 013 Poppodium, attendees will have the chance to hear songs from the band’s extensive catalog. It promises to be a special evening for both loyal fans and new listeners who want to discover one of the most influential acts in metal history.
