Miles Davis remains one of the most iconic figures in jazz. In the year he would have turned 100, the Brussels Jazz Orchestra and trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire are paying him a special musical tribute.

Inspired by Miles Davis

Miles Davis is and remains an icon of jazz. His drive for innovation continues to inspire generations of musicians. In the year he would have turned 100, the Brussels Jazz Orchestra and trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire are joining forces for a special project that does not look back, but rather looks forward with a fresh, contemporary perspective.

For What’s Not There, the Brussels Jazz Orchestra and trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire, together with arrangers Guillermo Klein and Lennert Baerts, read between the lines. Inspired by Miles Davis’s philosophy of ‘play what’s not there’, space, ensemble playing and innovation are central to this contemporary tribute.
