What makes Cool Bananas so fun?

"In our store, we have a colorful collection of items that might just bring a smile to your face. The main requirement for the products is that they are just right. And they achieve that through originality, craftsmanship, humor, and design. So when people ask what kind of store it is, my answer is always: a store with fun stuff."

What do people come to your store for?

"The first time, it's often to be surprised. After that, they come back because they're looking for a nice gift for someone or just something nice for themselves. People also drop by to have a chat, and I really enjoy that."

What is typically Tilburgian about your store?

"The most Tilburgian aspect of the store is myself. Practically my whole life has taken place in Tilburg, and I can't imagine ever leaving the city behind. Additionally, whenever possible, I try to add products with a link to Tilburg to the assortment. Think of the lovely soaps from Earth Elements, the laser-cut skylines and football stadiums from Shapelab, and the beautiful book 'Inner Kingdom' by artist Ruben Topia."

Who runs the store?

"That would be me, Frank Verbunt. I'm now 35 years old, married to my rock, Malou, and together we're parents to two healthy bundles of energy named Rens and Fien. Over the past few years, it became increasingly clear to me that I wanted to do something I believe in and genuinely enjoy. With Cool Bananas, I'm doing that every day now. And it's an amazing feeling when you slowly realize that the public sees it too, and that the hard work really pays off."
