Makers on Materials

Makers on Materials-1

Seven contemporary makers take you on a quest for the core of a natural material through the increasingly common and global question: where does the material come from? How is the material processed, but also: how can it be done differently?

Makers on Materials

Wool, cotton, fique, linen, rubber, and silk, they all take center stage during the group exhibition Makers on Materials.
Spread across six rooms, each space focuses on a different maker and material. The diverse spaces can be likened to pages in a magazine; each one tells the story of a different material and maker. The selected works are from seven international artists and designers, namely: Christien Meindertsma, Thierry Oussou, Rosana Escobar, Caroline Bach, Asli Hatipoğlu, and the duo Dasha Tsapenko and Marjo van Schaik. Each of them has fully mastered one natural material from their personal environment. Through various touch samples, visitors can better understand the tactile properties of each material.
