The iconic Bartkira mural has found a new home and has been expanded with an explosive variant.
About the artwork
Between 2015 and 2022, the Bartkira mural was a well-known eye-catcher in Tilburg. Due to the renovation of the building, the mural has been relocated. The original painting has been moved and now it is painted on the wall next to it. Now there is a spectacular addition: an exploding version of Bartkira. Together, they form a renewed and powerful duo. Like the first work, this mural is also a mix of Homer Simpson and the Japanese manga Akira. The new version has extra depth, bringing the image even more to life.
About the artist
Erik Veldmeijer, who works under the name Veldinho, is a graphic artist from Tilburg. He has been drawing since he was a child, and graffiti has been an important part of his work since he was nineteen. In addition to graffiti, he is also active as a painter. Several of his murals can be admired in Tilburg, while his canvases can be found at local businesses such as Buutvrij and Stuen Store. In 2021, Veldmeijer was nominated for the Tilburg Volunteer Award.
