Bookcase
The bookcase has three shelves full of books, which have been painted in an optical illusion in collaboration with local residents.
About the artwork
This bookcase contains the favorite books of local residents, regardless of age, culture, or the language in which the book is written. The only books not included in the work are political and religious books. It has thus become an artistic resource for bringing neighbors together in the neighborhood.
About the artist
Graffiti artist and mural painter Jan Is De Man (Jan Heinsbroek) created this work in Lange Nieuwstraat in 2021. He is known for his three-dimensional, trompe l'oeil effects and colorful works. For this artist, it is important that his work connects local communities and invites passers-by to look at their surroundings in a whole new way.

Everyday Still Life
